We are very proud to have UN Women as our main partner in the release of 'The Light of the Moon'. The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and UN Women Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, introduced the film at our theatrical premiere in New York City on Nov 1, 2017. The filmmaking team supports UN Women in all of their endeavors and hope our partnership and collaboration will help in their mission to end violence against women and girls around the world.

UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on five priority areas:

  • increasing women’s leadership and participation;
  • ending violence against women;
  • engaging women in all aspects of peace and security processes;
  • enhancing women’s economic empowerment;
  • and making gender equality central to national development planning and budgeting.
